A professor at CCNY for a physiological psych class told his class about
bananas. He said the expression "going bananas" is from the effects
of bananas on the brain.. Read on:

God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God.
Did you know that God can use a single moment to transform your life for the better?
God is always working, even when we have no idea what He's doing. He loves to bless us with His amazing, awe-inspiring goodness, even when we least expect it or when things don't seem to be going the right way.
Romans 8:28 is a popular verse but never gets old. To me, it's one of the most encouraging verses in the entire Bible. "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them" (NLT).
I love the word "everything" in this verse. We tend to think of bad things and difficult seasons, but "everything" includes more. It includes the good things as well as the things that we are indifferent about. God takes all of those things and works them out for our good.
He wants you to be the kind of person who thinks about His promises all the time, who believes the best, and who keeps hoping when others just give up. If you live this way, I believe you'll be amazed at how God works in your life. You'll experience His favor in what I call a "God-ordained moment."
A God-ordained moment is an incredible, supernatural event that God's been setting up, working behind the scenes so that you can experience His goodness at just the right time.
These God-ordained moments don't come on our schedule, but when they come, all we can say is: "Wow!"

The Cab Ride
The Cab RideI
arrived at the address and honked the horn.
After waiting a few minutes
I walked to the
door and knocked.. 'Just a minute', answered a
frail, elderly voice. I could hear something
being dragged across the floor.
After
a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in
her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a
print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned
on it, like somebody out of a 1940's
movie.
By her side was a small nylon
suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had
lived in it for years. All the furniture was
covered with sheets.
There were no
clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils
on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard
box filled with photos and
glassware.
'Would you carry my bag
out to the car?' she said. I took the suitcase
to the cab, then returned to assist the
woman.
She took my arm and we walked
slowly toward the curb.
She kept
thanking me for my kindness. 'It's nothing', I
told her.. 'I just try to treat my passengers
the way I would want my mother
treated'.
'Oh, you're such a good
boy', she said. When we got in the cab, she gave
me an address and then asked, 'Could you drive
through downtown?'
'It's not the
shortest way,' I answered
quickly..
'Oh, I don't mind,' she
said. 'I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a
hospice'.
I looked in the rear-view
mirror. Her eyes were glistening. 'I don't have
any family left,' she continued in soft
voice.. 'The doctor says I don't have very
long.' I quietly reached over and shut off the
meter.
'What route would you like me
to take?' I asked.
For the next two
hours, we drove through the city. She showed me
the building where she had once worked as an
elevator
operator.
We drove through the
neighborhood where she and her husband had lived
when they were newlyweds She had me pull up in
front of a furniture warehouse that had once
been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a
girl.
Sometimes she'd ask me to slow
in front of a particular building or corner and
would sit staring into the darkness, saying
nothing.
As the first hint of sun was
creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, 'I'm
tired. Let's go now'.
We drove in
silence to the address she had given me. It was
a low building, like a small convalescent home,
with a driveway that passed under a
portico.
Two orderlies came out to
the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were
solicitous and intent, watching her every move.
They must have been expecting her.
I
opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to
the door. The woman was already seated in a
wheelchair.
'How much do I owe you?'
she asked, reaching into her
purse.
'Nothing,' I
said
'You have to make a living,' she
answered.
'There are other
passengers,' I responded.
Almost
without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She
held onto me tightly.
'You gave an
old woman a little moment of joy,' she
said.
'Thank you.'
I squeezed her
hand, and they walked into the dim morning
light.. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound
of the closing of a life..
I didn't
pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove
aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that
day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had
gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient
to end his shift?
What
if I had refused to take the run, or had honked
once, then driven away?
On a quick
review, I don't think that I have done anything
more important in my life.
We're
conditioned to think that our lives revolve
around great moments.
But great
moments often catch us unaware-beautifully
wrapped in what others may consider a small
one.

Our galaxy has 400 billion stars...there are 100 billion + galaxies
Backdrop: Our galaxy, the Milky Way is approximately 80 to 120 light years wide containing about 400 billion stars (our sun is but one such star); so that if we traveled in a space ship moving at 186,000 miles per second (the speed of light) approximately 100,000 Earth years would be required to cross from one side to another.
Further: The estimate of number of galaxies in the Milky Way universe (our universe) is debatable, however estimates are generally 100 billion with some as high as 500 billion. Remember it takes 100,000 miles at light-speed to travel across our galaxy. Then, there is that problem of traveling through space from one galaxy to another. Our closest neighbor galaxy is about 2.4 million light years (thus 2.4 millions years at light-speed to arrive there). Indeed, that's a long trip for the kids to be entertained.
Are humans on the third planet (Earth) revolving around the sun the only intelligent (so to speak) life in the universe?

That day the Lord exalted Joshua...

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria
I love the promise that God gave to Joshua. He said, "Joshua, today I will begin to make you great in the eyes of all the Israelites." He was saying, "Today, I'm going to start releasing more of My favor, My blessings, My increase." But notice, there was a set time God began to release favor in a new way.
Friend, God wants to do the same thing for you. He wants to release His blessings and favor in such a way that it makes you a great parent, a great spouse, a great leader, a great employee, a great friend, a great business person. He is saying to us what He said to Joshua, "This day I'm going to begin to make your name great. This day I'm going to begin to release My favor in a new way. I'm going to open doors that no man can shut." It is a set time of God's favor. Get ready! Make room in your thinking. Stay open to Him and keep an attitude of faith and expectancy because this day God wants to overwhelm you with His blessing and favor in every area of your life!
