Direction and Protection 
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless” (Psalm 84:11, NIV) 
TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria God has many ways of pouring out His favor and goodness on our lives. Scripture says that He is your sun and shield. What does the sun do for us? It lights our way, keeps us warm, and nourishes the plants of the earth so that we can have food. Think about that for a moment. The earth is sustained by its relationship to the sun, and God wants to sustain you through your relationship with Him. He wants to give you direction and be your shield of protection against all the fiery darts of the enemy.
In the natural, it’s easy to fall into the trap of relying on the things of this world to direct and protect us. But when we put our trust and hope in our heavenly Father, not only does it enrich our relationship with Him, it opens the door to the supernatural realm. It opens the door to supernatural favor, wisdom, divine connections, new ideas and so much more. When you trust in Him, He shines His light on your path and leads you forward into the blessing and victory He has prepared for you!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY Father in heaven, today I open my heart and mind to You. I choose to put my trust in You and receive Your blessing of direction and protection. Show me Your ways that I may walk with You today and always in Jesus’ name. Amen. — Joel & Victoria Osteen

Undeserved, Unearned, Unexplainable
TODAY'S SCRIPTURE "Whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the LORD" (Proverbs 8:35, NKJV) TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria God loves you and He is for you! He is for your good; He is for your success; He is for your future. He desires for you to have every blessing and every promise declared in His Word. This is what the Bible calls His favor. At some point in our lives, even if we didn't recognize it, we have all experienced God's favor. It is simply His undeserved, unearned, unexplainable goodness in your life. God's favor causes you to reap where you haven't sown. His favor protects you, promotes you and opens new doors. His favor takes you places you could never go on your own. Today, I declare over your life that in the coming days and weeks ahead, God is going to unleash His unprecedented favor on you — favor like you've never seen before! The key is to stay connected to Him, stay in fellowship with Him through prayer, worship and reading His Word. Let Him direct your steps and mold and shape your character. As you pour yourself out to Him, He will pour out Himself on you! He'll pour out His grace, mercy and supernatural, undeserved, unearned, unexplainable favor on every area of your life! One time, I read about this medical doctor. He was in his late 80's, but he still went to the office every day. He loved to operate. His friends and family tried to get him to retire, but he just wouldn't do it. He had invented a procedure that he had performed over 10,000 times. He was asked in an interview if he ever got tired of doing it, if it ever got old. He said, "No. The reason why is because I act like every operation is my very first one." He was saying, "I don't let it become so common that I lose the awe." What has God done in your life? What can you be thankful for? Do you have your health? Do you have someone to love? There are miracles all around us. Don't lose the amazement of what God has done in your own life. Don't spend life waiting for the next "big" thing. Instead, thank God for the glorious things He's done in your life. Thank Him for loving You. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith! |

Pledge of Allegiance: changes over time
NBC this morning had a poll on this question. They had the highest Number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls, and the Percentage was the same as this:
86% to keep the words, IN God We Trust and God in the Pledge of Allegiance 14% against
That is a pretty 'commanding' public response.
I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn't ..
Now it is your turn. It is said that 86% of Americans believe the word God shou l d stay.......
Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having 'In God We Trust' on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Why is the wor l d catering to this 14%?

In our culture today, so many people are confused about what love is. We love pizza, movies and sports, but we also love our family or spouse. If we look to the Word of God, we see God's definition of love. First Corinthians 13 tells us that "love is patient and kind. It does not envy, nor boast. It is not proud. It is not rude. It does not seek its own way, is not easily angered, and keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not rejoice in evil, but rejoices in the truth. Love believes, hopes and endures. Love never fails." This is how God responds to us, and this is how we should respond to the people in our lives — with patience, kindness, hope, humility and love. Scripture tells us that God is love, and His character never changes! Today and every day, know that God loves you with an everlasting love. He will never leave you nor forsake you. When the people of Israel were in the desert on the way to the Promised Land, God gave them manna to eat. That was good. It sustained them for a while, but it wasn't permanent provision. Eventually, the manna stopped coming. The people had to move forward, and then God gave them quail. They were so excited. That fed them for a while, but it was also temporary. See, God gave the Israelites temporary provision on the way to the Promised Land where they would have permanent provision. The fact that God had something much greater in store for their future is what kept them moving forward. God could have sustained them with manna or quail, but God is a god of increase. He works in seasons, and He always has something better in store. Don't get stuck in a rut and think that one way is going to last forever. Instead, stay open and be willing to change, make adjustments, make corrections or try something new. If the "manna" stops coming, don't get upset. Just keep moving forward and be on the lookout for the new provision God has in store for you! |

Never give up. Some of the country's highest leaders lost at least once...But did not quit...
- Romney would not be the first man elected to the White House with prior election losses. In fact, he would be the eighth in a row.
- Barack Obama ran unsuccessfully for a House seat in 2000 (if you care),
- as did George W. Bush in 1978.
- Bill Clinton lost a 1974 House race and his first re-election as governor of Arkansas, in 1980. (He made a comeback two years later.)
- George H.W. Bush lost a Senate race in 1970 and was an unsuccessful candidate for the GOP presidential nomination in 1980.
- Ronald Reagan failed to win the Republican nomination in both 1968 and 1976.
- Jimmy Carter lost his first bid to become Georgia's governor, in 1966.

In Genesis, Eve went through a great disappointment. Her son Cain killed her son Able, the first murder in the Bible. I'm sure Eve, like any mother, was devastated and heartbroken at the passing of her son. But I love what Eve said in Genesis 4:25, "God has appointed another seed for me." In essence, she was saying, "I don't understand it. It doesn't make sense, but I trust God. This is not the end. He has appointed another seed." Friend, when you go through things that you don't understand, it is not the end. Nothing is lost in the kingdom. God is going to appoint another seed, and that seed represents the future. It indicates what is coming. If you will let go of what didn't work out, let go of the hurts and pains, then for everything you've lost, God will appoint another seed. You'll give birth to more in the future than you lost in the past. Keep praying, keep believing, keep hoping because God is for you. Trust Him and embrace the good things He has in store for your future! |

We all go through disappointments, setbacks and things that we don't understand. Maybe you prayed for a loved one, but they didn't get well. Or maybe you worked hard for a promotion, but you didn't get it. You stood in faith for a relationship, but it didn't work out. One of the best things you can do is release it. Let it go. Don't dwell on it anymore. If you go around wondering why things didn't work out, all that's going to do is lead to bitterness, resentment and self-pity. Before long, you'll be blaming others, blaming yourself, or even God. You may not have understood what happened. It may not have been fair. But when you release it, it's an act of your faith. You're saying, "God, I trust You. I know You're in control. And even though it didn't work out my way, You said, 'All things are going to work together for my good.' So I believe You still have something good in my future." There is power in letting go of the past and the frustration of trying to figure everything out. When you release your questions, you are saying, "God, You are in control. I trust You." And when you put your hope in God, that's when He can heal your heart and lead you forward into His path of blessing. |
